SC Johnson to phase out phthalates from products

RACINE, Wisconsin: Consumer products maker SC Johnson & Son Inc. said it plans to phase out phthalates, or chemicals used to soften plastics, from its fragrance products over the next two years.

Last summer, Racine, Wisconsin-based SC Johnson started working with its suppliers to phase out DEP, a common phthalate, from fragrances in its products. SC Johnson makes brands including Windex, Glade, Raid and Ziploc.
